3.The size- I think MA is the perfect size. Not really big, but big enough. MA looks small on a map, but it’s home to nearly 7 million people, and Eastern MA vs. Western MA feels like different states. Lots of diversity going on within our borders in that regard.
4.Scenery- Beautiful fall foliage, as with anywhere in New England. Come in October and you’ll be blown away.
5. The food- MA is famous for its clam chowder, highly acclaimed. Gentrification is going on hardcore and causing rents to skyrocket even more.
2.Winter- MA winter is just as harsh as it is in northern NE, but without the outlets to do winter sports. Skiing is just not as good here as it is in VT, NH, or ME. If you live in Boston, you’d better hope for a mild winter, otherwise enjoy not getting to work!
3.Liquor laws- MA liquor laws are just dumb. Highly taxed liquor, no happy hour, no alcohol sold to you if someone in your party has an expired/invalid license, and some bars I hear don’t take out of state ID
4.Space (or lack of): Massachusetts is small, but it has a large population. It’s the 3rdmost densely populated state in the nation. If you’re not about the packed-in-like-sardine life, check out the western part of the state. Boston Public Transportation
The MBTA is Boston’s public transportation system, and it’s a great way to get around quickly and cheaply. The “T” refers to the subway, which runs throughout Boston, into Cambridge, and into nearby suburbs, providing access to all the attractions located in Boston. Just look for the big “T” in a circle to find a stop. You can also take buses to get all over the city, and the Commuter Rail is an easy way to get to points outside of Boston. You can buy paper “Charlie Tickets” for single or multiple subway rides at vending machines located in most stations. When your ticket runs low, visit a fare vending machine to add value. A single basic fare for the T is $2.75 with a Charlie Ticket, although if you pick up a Charlie Card (a plastic card like a credit card), the fare is lower at $2.25 for one way. You can load the Charlie Card with an amount of your choosing, so it’s smart way to explore the city. They’re available at almost every T stop, and are free to get. Once on board, hang on!
