Our Friends Kit includes umber-colored tubes representing uracil (U), which replace thymine (T) to accurately model RNA’s unique composition. The umber color is a mnemonic aid, specifically chosen to help students remember the presence of uracil in RNA.

We also include tRNA molecule models–using foam rubber pads, a colored applique and attached anticodon tubes–to show how our amino acids are brought in, one by one, to link together to form a protein.  Our basic kit includes three tRNAs and seven amino acids, while the premium kit includes seven tRNAs with the seven amino acids. We also include plenty of color tubes to enable the anticodon bases to be shown…and even to allow for point mutations and to show a “single nucleotide polymorphism” (SNP).
